When it comes to find the ideal chair for your dining table it is not an easy task. A dining chair needs to be comfortable for sitting a couple of hours, it has to allow you to eat appropriately and be close to the table but still has some degree of lounge chair comfort so you can still relax in the after-dinner conversation. And this is just the functional part, a dinning chair will has a strong present in the room, so they should fit your style and of course your pocket. Hans J. Wegner

The danish architect Hans J. Wegner is considered a master of the chair. He said his only goal was to make “only one good chair”, this statement shows his aim for perfection not only aesthetic but functional. As one of the pioneers in furniture design of the twentieth century he is part of the generation that created what is today know as “the Golden Age” of modern Danish design.

He studied together with Borge Mogensen under Kaaren Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, later he will be himself teacher in the same school where one of his students will be another great danish designer Poul Kjaerholm.

The CH47 is one of the simplest and stylish designs from Han J. Wegner. Straight form only broken by the curved back leg that gives stability and a laid-back look, making the chair extraordinary comfortable. Wegner carpentry knowledge is shown in this chair where the rail and stretcher are displaced to ensure that the dowels can be full height to make a very strong and stabile chair.

Also available as armchair in model CH46, but I love the simplicity of the CH47 and the look in oak threatened with danish soap and natural paper cord.
